My heart is a river

My heart is a river
Flowing through my chest
But in your cold embrace
I find it frozen in place
There's a tear in my flesh
And through it escapes my breath
Carrying lines
That bleed tears from my eyes
Your words are bullets
That rip through my organs
And you lead me through streets
While i walk blindly in tow
But
You think with your feelings
and your instincts
Are as trustworthy
As the lies you feed me
So as you put on your favorite dress
And i gradually fill with distress
Will you stare at the stars
And for a second
Stumble upon the world
That I'm trapped in
As it races towards a sun
Waiting to burn up my existence
An event which i cannot avert
For i am hypnotized by the static
As i try to make sense of a screen
Reminding me of the past
Distracted only by the sound
Of birds
Fleeing from the winds of change
But i heed not their warning
For i cannot wait
To be wrapped in its embrace
And see as the world around me
Fade to black
And when i open my eyes again
I find myself
Resting in the clouds
